On Saturday (06/03), Bioinformatics Working Group, FMIPA IPB University, Center of Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI-PT) Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC) IPB University, and The Indonesian Society for Bioinformatics and Biodiversity (MABBI), held a Bioinformatics Webinar Series #40, which took time from 09.00-10.30 WIB via Zoom Meeting and Live streaming YouTube.
The activity was attended by 116 participants from academia, industry, and the public. The moderator in this webinar is Dr. Wisnu Ananta Kusuma. The speaker, Dr. Ajeng Kusumaningtyas Pramono, talked about “Phage Therapy”. Phage Therapy is an alternative product to tackle infections. Bacteriophage was discovered in 1896 by Hankin in water purified from India’s Ganges and Jamuna Rivers and had the bactericidal activity of bacteriophages against Vibrio cholerae. In addition, Dr. Ajeng also explained the success of Phage Therapy as outlined in the book The Perfect Predator by Dr. Steffanie Strathdee and Dr. Thomas Patterson.
