On Monday (07/31), Bioinformatics Working Group, FMIPA IPB University, Center of Excellence in Science and Technology (PUI-PT) Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC) IPB University, and The Indonesian Society for Bioinformatics and Biodiversity (MABBI), held a Bioinformatics Webinar Series #43, which took time from 10.00-11.30 WIB via Zoom Meeting and Live streaming YouTube.
The activity was attended by 93 participants from academia, industry, and the public. The moderator for this webinar is Rizka Fatriani, M.Si. The speaker, Tisha Melia, PhD, talked about “Characteristics of Different Responses to Drought Stress in Oil Palm Leaves and Roots through Gene Expression Clustering.”
The speaker explained that drought plant stimulation was observed on days 0, 7, and 14. In addition, RNA sequencing was also carried out to characterize genes and look for new genes that respond to drought stimuli. The clustering used was consensus clustering which produces a consensus matrix. The results of the research, the speaker found 6286 genes that were expressed in response to drought treatment, and 6-39% was a new gene.
