On Tuesday (5/11), the Tropical Biopharmaceutical Research Center (TropBRC) hosted 127 Elementary School UKS Teachers from the South Tangerang City Education and Culture Office. The visit aimed to provide insights into the potential of local herbs as a unique competitive advantage for Indonesia. The guests were warmly welcomed by the Director of TropBRC, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Rafi, S.Si., M.Sc., at the IPB Startup Center Building on the IPB Taman Kencana Campus, Bogor.
The visit included a dynamic Panel Discussion moderated by apt. Dr. Siti Sadiah, M.Sc., with Laela Wulansari serving as the MC. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Rafi opened the session with a presentation on TropBRC’s research, spanning from the upstream to downstream phases of biopharmaceutical studies. Taopik Ridwan, S.P., M.Sc., then elaborated on the benefits of medicinal plants, followed by apt. Dr. Siti Sadiah, who discussed the efficacy and safety of natural products. The session concluded with Dr. Purwanti Pahrurodji, M.M., from LKP Dapur Rumput Laut, who delivered an inspiring presentation on reviving the prominence of Indonesian spices.
The event concluded with great enthusiasm, as participants expressed their appreciation for Indonesia’s vast biological wealth. As a gesture of appreciation, a souvenir was presented to the Director of TropBRC by the Head of LKP Dapur Rumput Laut.
