Research Highlights in Jurnal Jamu Indonesia Vol 11
First, this edition features nine research articles and one review article. These papers explore the diverse potential of local medicinal plants. For instance, the volume delves into supply chain network optimization. It looks at local Baccaurea fruits from West Sulawesi as herbal medicine raw materials. Additionally, researchers investigated the bioactive compounds of Rhodomyrtus tomentosa. They also explored its pharmacological activities and new drug discovery prospects.
Plant Extracts and Metabolic Health
Moreover, a significant portion of the research focuses on metabolic health. Several studies in this Indonesian Journal of Jamu issue highlight antidiabetic activities and effects on pancreatic histopathology. To achieve this, authors used various plant extracts. These include Premna serratifolia, Morinda citrifolia, Pulutan (Urena lobata), and Temu Blenyeh (Curcuma purpurascens).
Furthermore, this edition enriches our understanding of antioxidant properties. Scientists analyzed the phenolic and flavonoid contents in papaya seeds and peels. Similarly, another study evaluated the α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of green and purple kale leaf extracts.
Specialized Medical Research
Finally, the publication presents specialized medical studies. One paper examines leukocyte responses to Karika leaf extract. Another assesses the efficacy of antihypertensive Jamu supplementation. This treatment improves blood pressure and renal oxidative stress. Lastly, researchers discovered the promising anti-aging potential of Casticin through advanced molecular docking against skin matrix metalloproteinases.
