The Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC), LRI-PGK, IPB University, extends its highest appreciation to Prof. Dr. Mega Safithri, S.Si., M.Si., Full Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, IPB University, for delivering an inspiring scientific oration on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Andi Hakim Nasoetion Auditorium, IPB Darmaga Campus. The hybrid event, held from 08:30 to 11:00 WIB, received a warm response from participants, both those attending in person and those joining via online platforms.
In her oration entitled “The Development of Herbal Medicines (Red Betel Leaf, Red Ginger, and Cinnamon Extracts) as Antidiabetic Agents to Enhance Indonesia’s Public Health Self-Reliance,” Prof. Mega emphasized the importance of herbal medicine research based on local biodiversity in addressing degenerative diseases, particularly diabetes mellitus. She highlighted that the development of red betel leaf, red ginger, and cinnamon holds not only academic value but also strategic significance in supporting national health self-reliance through the sustainable use of natural resources.
Through this oration, TropBRC hopes to inspire a renewed spirit among the academic community of IPB University, researchers, and the wider public to continue advancing innovative, scientific, and impactful herbal research for the improvement of the nation’s health quality.
