The Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC) LRI-PGK IPB University successfully held the Workshop on Chemometrics in Metabolomics Research for Beginners Batch #2 on October 3–4, 2025. The workshop, opened by the Secretary of TropBRC, Dr. apt. Siti Sa’diah, M.Si., was attended by 31 participants from various institutions across Indonesia. This activity aimed to introduce the basic concepts of chemometrics and its applications in metabolomics research, while strengthening the research capacity in the field of tropical biopharmaca.
The workshop featured three distinguished speakers: Prof. Dr. Mohamad Rafi, S.Si., M.Si. and Dr. Rudi Heryanto, S.Si., M.Si. from TropBRC LRI-PGK IPB University and the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) IPB University, as well as Dr. Dewi Anggraini Septaningsih, S.Si., M.Si. from the Advanced Laboratory of IPB University and the Military FMIPA, Defense University. The materials presented covered the basic concepts of chemometrics and its application in metabolomics research, multivariate analysis (PCA, HCA, and DA), and hands-on data analysis practice.
Prior to the main event, a pre-workshop session was held on September 27, 2025, to assist participants in preparing the software installations required for the training. The workshop was conducted with great enthusiasm—participants were highly engaged, actively discussing and asking questions to the speakers about the practical application of chemometrics in research. Through this activity, participants are expected to gain deeper understanding and practical skills in scientifically and effectively processing and analyzing metabolomics data.
