The Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC) LRI-PGKH IPB University recently welcomed an academic delegation. Specifically, this team came from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak Branch, Mukah Campus. Dr. Nurul Hidayah Binti Mohd Khairlani led the visit. Therefore, this event marks a major milestone in the TropBRC and UiTM Sarawak collaboration. Ultimately, the meeting initiated a new Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). Additionally, it launched an international student internship program.
Driving Innovation Through Academic and Research Partnerships
Exploring World-Class Facilities
The academic agenda officially began on Monday, August 24, 2026. First, the UiTM delegation toured several research facilities at IPB University. For instance, they visited the Biopharmaca Conservation and Cultivation Unit (UKBB). Afterward, the team explored the Animal Testing Laboratory (UKHP). As a result, the delegates gained deep insights into TropBRC’s innovative activities. Consequently, both institutions easily exchanged valuable perspectives on future academic synergies.
Building Connections and Finalizing the MoA
Beyond laboratory tours, building a strong institutional bond was highly important. Thus, TropBRC hosted a warm networking dinner on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The Director of TropBRC and key researchers warmly welcomed the international guests. Because the setting was relaxed, both teams communicated openly. Furthermore, they exchanged fresh ideas and built closer ties.
Next, the momentum continued into Thursday, August 27, 2026. Formal discussions finally reached a crucial phase. Representatives from both institutions gathered in the TropBRC Meeting Room. There, they finalized the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). Together, the leadership teams outlined potential joint research initiatives. Moreover, they laid solid groundwork for a sustainable long-term partnership.
Empowering Future Experts
Importantly, this growing partnership also involves student development. The institute proudly welcomed two UiTM students. Specifically, Zete Zuriany Binti Zulnizem and Bibian Imu Riang joined the team. Currently, both are completing an intensive internship program at TropBRC. Undoubtedly, this hands-on experience immerses them in a professional research environment. Additionally, it acts as a brilliant catalyst for knowledge exchange between campuses.
This academic visit reflects TropBRC’s dedication to expanding its global network. The internship program also highlights this commitment. Moving forward, the TropBRC and UiTM Sarawak collaboration will definitely thrive. Finally, it will bring significant advancements to plantation, agrotechnology, and tropical biopharmaca research.
