The Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC) of IPB University successfully hosted a two-day online workshop titled “Animal Models for Breast Milk (ASI) Booster Research” on July 22–23, 2025. The event saw 14 participants from various Indonesian universities, all aiming to strengthen their research capacity. The workshop’s primary goal was to utilize animal models as a scientific method for testing natural products that enhance breast milk production.

The workshop featured a lineup of expert speakers from prominent institutions. These included Prof. Dr. drh. Ekowati Handharyani, M.Si. (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, IPB University); Prof. Dr. Katrin Roosita, S.P., M.Si. (TropBRC – FEMA IPB University); Prof. Dr. Mohamad Rafi, S.Si., M.Si. (TropBRC – FMIPA IPB University); Prof. Dr. Ruqiah Ganda Putri Panjaitan, S.Si., M.Si. (Tanjungpura University); and Dr. apt. Siti Sa’diah, M.Si. (TropBRC – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, IPB University). Throughout the sessions, participants gained comprehensive knowledge on topics such as the introduction to ASI booster research, ethical considerations in animal testing, active compound metabolites, breeding techniques, and histopathological insights into mammary tissues.

The dynamic and practical discussions during the workshop offered valuable insights for participants, especially in developing research based on animal models. It’s hoped that this initiative will foster the creation of more effective and evidence-based ASI booster products in Indonesia, ultimately supporting better maternal and child health.
