Modernizing Traditional Herbal Heritage for a Healthier and Empowered Society
In commemoration of National Jamu Day 2026, Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC) LRI-PGKH IPB University proudly celebrates Indonesia’s rich heritage of traditional herbal medicine (jamu) as an important part of the nation’s culture, knowledge, and health innovation.
For generations, jamu has been deeply rooted in Indonesian society, reflecting local wisdom and the harmonious relationship between nature and human well-being. Today, supported by scientific research and technological advancement, jamu continues to evolve into a globally recognized herbal-based health resource.
This year’s theme, “Modernizing Traditional Herbal Heritage: Building a Healthy, Empowered, and Global Society,” highlights the importance of preserving traditional knowledge while encouraging innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based research to strengthen the future of Indonesian herbal medicine.
Through continuous research, education, and community engagement, we hope jamu will continue to contribute to sustainable health development and inspire future generations to appreciate and advance Indonesia’s valuable herbal heritage.
