A total of 22 intern students participating in activities at the Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC), IPB University, conducted an educational visit to the Experimental Animal Facility Unit (UKHP) of IPB University at the Dramaga Campus on Thursday (15/1). The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand understanding of in vivo testing facilities and services as part of the support for biopharmaca research.

The participating students came from the Department of Biology and the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, IPB University; Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Jakarta; Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) Semarang; and SMK AK Nusa Bangsa. The group was welcomed by UKHP staff members, drh. Rere Epiyanti and drh. Maudika Pamela Fiorenza, who delivered comprehensive explanations regarding the functions, facilities, and services of the UKHP.

The UKHP of IPB University serves as a research support unit providing in vivo testing services, including the supply of experimental animals, animal feed, and rodent housing facilities that comply with research standards and animal welfare principles. The experimental animals available include Sprague Dawley (SD) rats and DDY mice.

Through this visit, students gained insights into the role of the UKHP in supporting research activities conducted by students and researchers, particularly those involving animal-based research. The visit also formed part of TropBRC IPB University’s efforts to strengthen integrated learning by bridging theoretical knowledge with practical research experience.
