The Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC) LRI-PGK IPB University, successfully conducted its first online gathering in the series, TropBRC Webinar 2026 Series #1, via Zoom Meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. This virtual event officially opened TropBRC’s 2026 scientific activity calendar, focusing on a strategic health topic concerning the potential of herbal compounds in the management of diabetic nephropathy.
Prof. Dr. Mohamad Rafi, S.Si., M.Si., Head of TropBRC, officially opened the session with welcoming remarks. He extended sincere appreciation to the keynote speaker, Prof. drh. Min Rahminiwati, M.S., Ph.D., for sharing her profound expertise and experience in pharmacology. Furthermore, Prof. Rafi highlighted the scientific and clinical applications of herbal-based research, emphasizing that continuous knowledge exchange remains vital to advance both academic research and professional practice.
Insights from TropBRC Webinar 2026 on Herbal Potential
During her keynote presentation titled “Herbal Potential as SGLT1/2 Modulators and Antioxidants in Diabetic Nephropathy,” Prof. Min Rahminiwati examined essential pharmacological mechanisms. Specifically, she detailed how herbal compounds modulate SGLT1/2 glucose transporters and function as antioxidants to suppress diabetic nephropathy progression. Additionally, her talk emphasized innovative scientific approaches alongside opportunities for developing phytomedicine derived from Indonesia’s rich biodiversity resources.
Trivadila, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., served as moderator, guiding an engaging and highly interactive discussion. The dynamic Q&A segment generated numerous questions from enthusiastic participants across various fields. Following the presentation, participants provided overwhelmingly positive feedback.
