Exploring research facilities and laboratory animal management to support biofarmaceutical and life science research.
On Thursday morning, July 16, 2026, eight internship students from the TropBRC Laboratory (LabTropBRC) visited the Animal Testing Laboratory (ATL) at IPB University Dramaga Campus. The educational visit was organized to provide students with first-hand exposure to laboratory animal facilities, ethical animal management, and the laboratory’s contribution to scientific research.
The interns were welcomed by the ATL staff—drh. Leliana Nugrahaning Widi, drh. Rere Epiyanti, and drh. Maudika Pamela Fiorenza—who introduced the participants to the laboratory’s facilities and operational practices. The session highlighted the importance of proper laboratory animal care, welfare, and management in ensuring reliable and responsible research outcomes.
During the visit, students explored various research support facilities while learning about the role of laboratory animals in biofarmaceutical and modern life science research. The activity provided valuable insights into how standardized animal management contributes to the quality, reproducibility, and ethical conduct of scientific studies.
The visit enriched the interns’ understanding of research infrastructure beyond the laboratory bench. By connecting theory with real-world practice, the program strengthened their appreciation of the essential role that research facilities.
