On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the Tropical Biopharmaca Research Center (TropBRC), LRI-PGK IPB University successfully held TropBRC Webinar #2 virtually. The event was opened by the Head of TropBRC, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Rafi, S.Si., M.Si., who emphasized the importance of collaboration and inspiration in advancing biopharmaca science. The webinar attracted approximately 170 participants from various institutions across Indonesia, reflecting strong enthusiasm for current biopharmaca research.

The webinar featured three expert speakers who shared innovations in the fields of exosomes, functional foods, and Indonesian medicinal plants. Prof. Dr. Ir. C. Hanny Wijaya, M.Agr. and Prof. Dr. Anggraini Barlian, M.Sc. presented the potential of plant-derived exosomes—such as those from ginger and pumpkin—as agents for regenerative and anti-inflammatory therapy, as well as their applications in food formulations to enhance antioxidant activity. Following this, Prof. Dr. apt. Muhamad Insanu, S.Si., M.Si. shared research findings on the development of hyperuricemia treatments based on local Indonesian plants.

The presentation and discussion sessions, moderated by apt. Dr. Siti Sa’diah, M.Sc., were dynamic and informative. The interactive discussions addressed various challenges, including plant extract stability, the importance of standardization, processing techniques (such as spray drying and freeze drying), and the potential of exosomes as drug delivery systems, including for cancer therapy. This webinar reaffirmed TropBRC’s commitment as a scientific platform that fosters the advancement of biopharmaca research in support of public health and national self-reliance in natural products.
