On Thursday (15/1), 22 LabTropBRC students participated in an educational visit. They visited the Animal Testing Laboratory (UKHP). This specialized unit under TropBRC IPB University operates at the Dramaga Campus. The main goal of this activity was highly educational. It aimed to provide a firsthand understanding of in vivo testing facilities. These specific facilities are vital for supporting advanced biopharmaca research.

The participants represented several different academic institutions. Many came from the Department of Biology and the Department of Chemistry. Both departments belong to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at IPB University. Other interns joined from Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Jakarta and Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) Semarang. Students from SMK AK Nusa Bangsa also took part in the visit. Upon their arrival, the group received a warm welcome. UKHP staff members drh. Rere Epiyanti and drh. Maudika Pamela Fiorenza guided the students. They delivered detailed explanations regarding the unit. Their presentation covered the core functions and available services of the UKHP.

Exploring Animal Testing Services

The UKHP of IPB University is an essential research support unit. It provides comprehensive in vivo testing facilities for various scientific needs. The unit supplies standardized experimental animals for researchers. These include specific breeds like Sprague Dawley (SD) rats and DDY mice. The facility provides high-quality animal feed. It also maintains specialized rodent housing. All operations strictly comply with modern research standards. The unit always focuses on basic animal welfare principles.

During the visit, students gained valuable practical insights. They learned how the UKHP supports critical research activities. This support is especially important for animal-based studies conducted by researchers. This activity is a key part of TropBRC IPB University’s educational efforts. The center constantly strives to strengthen integrated learning programs. It successfully bridges theoretical knowledge with actual practical research experience.
